Teledyne ISCO Flow Meters & Flow Monitoring

Teledyne ISCO also manufactures open-channel flow-monitoring equipment for wastewater, stormwater, sewer collection systems, industrial discharge, irrigation, and environmental applications.

Selecting the correct flow meter requires more than choosing a controller. The appropriate measurement technology depends on channel geometry, hydraulics, solids, surcharge conditions, access, maintenance requirements, and whether the installation is temporary or permanent.

Teledyne ISCO Signature Flow Meter

The Signature Flow Meter is Teledyne ISCO's platform for permanent open-channel flow-monitoring installations.

Signature systems can be configured with multiple measurement technologies, including:
  • Ultrasonic level measurement
  • Bubbler measurement
  • Submerged area velocity
  • LaserFlow non-contact velocity measurement

This flexibility allows a monitoring system to be designed around the hydraulic conditions and maintenance requirements of the site rather than forcing every application into the same measurement method.

Teledyne ISCO DuraTracker Flow Meter

The DuraTracker Flow Meter is designed for portable and remote flow-monitoring applications and supports multiple connected devices and communication options.

It is particularly relevant for collection-system surveys, temporary monitoring, and other applications where a portable logger and sensor system is required.

Available sensor technologies can include area velocity, ultrasonic, and LaserFlow depending on the application and configuration.

An intrinsically safe DuraTracker Ex version is also available for qualifying hazardous-area installations.

Teledyne ISCO LaserFlow

The Teledyne ISCO LaserFlow sensor provides non-contact velocity and level measurement for open-channel flow applications.

Instead of placing the primary velocity sensor directly in the wastewater stream, LaserFlow uses laser Doppler technology to measure velocity below the water surface while mounted above the flow.

Applications can include:
  • Sanitary sewer monitoring
  • Wastewater influent and effluent
  • Stormwater conveyance
  • Industrial discharge
  • Outfalls
  • Irrigation channels
  • Difficult or high-maintenance flow locations

LaserFlow can be used with appropriate Teledyne ISCO flow-meter platforms for both permanent and portable monitoring applications.

Teledyne ISCO Service & Repair

Reliable sampling and flow measurement depend on more than the original equipment selection.

When equipment is not functioning properly, our goal is to determine whether the existing system can be economically returned to reliable operation before assuming it needs to be replaced.
We provide service and repair support for Teledyne ISCO samplers, flow meters, and related monitoring equipment, including assistance with:
  • Equipment troubleshooting
  • Sampler repair
  • Flow meter repair and evaluation
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Pump and tubing replacement
  • Sample-volume problems
  • Controller and programming issues
  • Distributor problems
  • Refrigeration problems
  • Sensor troubleshooting
  • Flow measurement problems
  • Equipment configuration
  • Parts identification
  • Manuals and documentation
  • Equipment upgrades
  • Legacy-equipment evaluation

Teledyne ISCO Parts & Maintenance

Many sampler and flow-meter problems can be resolved through routine maintenance or replacement of worn components rather than replacement of the complete instrument.

Depending on the model, commonly needed sampler items can include:
  • Pump tubing
  • Suction tubing
  • Discharge tubing
  • Strainers
  • Bottles
  • Bottle accessories
  • Distributor components
  • Batteries and power supplies
  • Preventive maintenance kits
  • Controller and enclosure components

We can help identify the equipment and determine which maintenance items or replacement parts are appropriate.

Legacy Teledyne ISCO Equipment

Teledyne ISCO equipment is known for long service life, and discontinued samplers and flow meters remain installed at many facilities.

Legacy sampler families include equipment such as:
  • ISCO 3700 and 3700C
  • ISCO 3710 and 3710C
  • ISCO 4700
  • Avalanche
  • Glacier
  • Older 6700-series configurations

Teledyne ISCO continues to make parts and technical information available for a number of legacy models even after production has ended.

For example, Teledyne ISCO identifies the 6712/6712C as the replacement path for legacy 3700-series portable samplers, the GLS as the alternative to the 3710, the 5800 as the successor to the 4700, and BLZZRD as the replacement for Avalanche and Glacier.

We can help determine whether existing legacy equipment should be maintained, repaired, upgraded, or replaced.

Automatic Sampling & Flow Measurement Together

One of the strengths of the Teledyne ISCO product line is the ability to combine automatic sampling with flow measurement.

A flow meter can pace or trigger an automatic sampler based on actual discharge rather than collecting samples only at fixed time intervals.

Depending on the application, an integrated system can include:
  • Automatic sampler
  • Flow meter or logger
  • Level or velocity sensor
  • Rain gauge
  • Water-quality instrumentation
  • Communication equipment
  • Data logging and Flowlink software

This can be particularly useful for wastewater, industrial discharge, stormwater, CSO, and environmental monitoring programs where sampling needs to respond to changing conditions.

We can help evaluate the complete monitoring application rather than treating the sampler and flow meter as unrelated instruments.

Selecting the Right Teledyne ISCO Equipment

The right ISCO product depends on the monitoring objective and installation.

For automatic sampling, considerations include:
  • Portable versus stationary installation
  • Refrigerated versus non-refrigerated sampling
  • Composite versus sequential collection
  • Bottle quantity and size
  • Sample preservation
  • Suction lift
  • Flow pacing
  • Available power
  • Environmental conditions

For flow monitoring, considerations include:
  • Temporary versus permanent monitoring
  • Pipe or channel geometry
  • Expected flow range
  • Surcharge conditions
  • Solids and debris
  • Sensor accessibility
  • Submerged versus non-contact measurement
  • Communications
  • Maintenance requirements

We can help review these requirements and configure an appropriate system.
